Where is mehmets dagger

You're probably doing what I did - you hit Sequence 2 or 3 and you start knocking out every side quest and collectible you possibly can. I ended sequence 3 with the best possible weapons and armor. The best armor couldn't be unlocked without doing the tombs and the last one didn't unlock until sequence 8.

The only really good one you could unlock that early was Altair's Sword, and it was still like sequence 4 or 5 before you really started recruiting other assassins.
