Why outsourced tv series cancelled
The network just bet big on the premise by picking up the provocatively titled Outsourced as its first new primetime comedy series order for next season.
By tackling such a touchy subject, NBC is guaranteed free publicity because of the inevitable controversy over its new comedy series. The sitcom is based on the romantic comedy by the same name which won the best film award at the Seattle International Film Festival. In the movie, a Seattle retail manager Todd Anderson, is told to travel to Gharapuri to train his replacement. Once there, he encounters a bunker-like call center filled with willing novices who are supposed to learn how to sound American.
Now he has to find his life… Call centre chaos… What really happens at the other end of the line! Todd finds that he must learn about the Indian culture before he can even think of Americanizing his subordinates with help from the new assistant manager who becomes his love interest. This development season, NBC approached him to helm another pilot, but he urged the execs to revisit Outsourced instead.

It was funny, fresh, and had lots of runway for 2nd season storylines. I miss Gupta! It was such a great show too bad. I still watch the reruns. All there is now is garbage reality shows that are not even reality!!
A bunch of sensitive morons!!! Outsource was and is reality!!! Bad move NBC!!! Just found this show on Hulu and binge watched the entire season. Home News Cancelled or Renewed? Should Outsourced have been cancelled? The show, which premiered last September in a dream time slot right after "The Office," had been in limbo ever since it was moved to a deadly Thursday night slot later on.
Many "Outsourced" fans felt that the time slot was the main reason for its downfall, though the show earned positive ratings among viewers who recorded it on DVRs and watched entire episodes online at www.
According to the industry blog TVSeriesFinale. By week two, it had fallen 22 percent. The numbers kept falling after the time zone shift, and reached a low of 1. For the past few weeks, a grass-roots campaign had urged fans from around the country, in the Indian American and mainstream communities, to write in and let NBC know the show was loved and wanted I-W, May 6.
