What is bzp powder

Users experience a sense of euphoria and increased alertness, enhanced senses and a raised heart rate, coupled with a decrease in appetite. A number of adverse effects have been reported. These include vomiting and nausea, headache, tiredness, palpitations, anxiety, strange thoughts, mood swings and confusion.

Some of these effects were reported to have occurred in the comedown period while others were experienced for up to 24 hours after use.

There are reports of users not being able to sleep for up to ten hours after taking BZP pills. More severe adverse effects may include fits and potentially life-threatening seizures. Serotonin syndrome may rarely be brought on by use of piperazines, as these drugs work by boosting the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin syndrome can cause a range of symptoms including overheating and tremors, and can be fatal. BZP is a common name for the synthetic drug N-benzylpiperazine, a stimulant that produces euphoria and cardiovascular effects and is approximately 10 to 20 times less potent than amphetamine in producing these effects.

BZP typically is available as a powder, which may be packaged in small glass or plastic vials or in small plastic resealable bags. BZP powder often is pressed into tablets, many of which are embossed with logos. BZP is occasionally available in capsules. BZP usually is consumed orally. The drug also can be snorted or smoked, but these methods of administration are less common.

Common oral dosages of BZP range from 20 to milligrams. The effects of BZP generally last from 6 to 8 hours. BZP primarily is abused by teenagers and young adults. The drug often is used at raves, nightclubs, private parties, and other venues where the use of club drugs, particularly MDMA, is well established.

There is some cross-reactivity of BZP with commercially available urine immunoassay tests for methamphetamine. Methods for the identification and quantification of BZP in body fluids usually rely either on GCMS or liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. There are no readily-available screening tests for m CPP or the other phenylpiperazine derivatives. However, several members of this family have been proposed for critical review by the WHO in BZP has no current human or veterinary pharmaceutical use in any country.

Although piperazine itself is used as an anthelminthic drug, neither BZP nor any other piperazine derivative is licensed for this purpose. An industrial use of m CPP is as an intermediate in the production of trazodone and three related substances. Trazodone is licensed in a number of Member States for the treatment of depression and other disorders.

The substance 1- 3-chlorophenyl 3-chloropropyl -piperazine mCPCPP is a precursor used in the manufacture of antidepressant drug nefazodone.
